Where I have worked
The main entrance for management and engineering
I started working for Guide Division of General Motors Corporation in July of 1964.  The Viet Nam war was forcing the military to build up its forces so I was drafted after being at Guide for about a year.  After being released form service in 1968 I returned to work at Guide.  In 1972 I was accepted into the apprentice program and became a journeyman electrician in 1976.  After 34 years at Guide I retired on March 1, 1999.
Previous to my retirement, Chrysler had been hiring skilled trades for its Detroit area plants.  Before retiring I had applied for, taken the skills test, and had been accepted for an electrician's job.  Two weeks before retiring I was interviewed and was offered a job at the Mack I Plant and had accepted.  One week after I retired from Guide, I left for Detroit and started work at the Mack I Plant in the cam shaft department.

Chrysler Mack Ave. Engine Plant in Detroit
This is the DaimlerChrysler Mack I Engine Plant in Detroit where I worked for the next 5 years from March 8th, 1999 till Jun 1, 2004.
The Mack I Plant manufactures the 4.7 V8 Engine.
The plant that is visible to the left is Mack I's sister plant, Mack II which makes the Chrysler 3.7 V6 engine.  The Mack II Plant was just being built when I stated at the Mack I Plant.  Soon after I started working at the Mack I Plant, the Chrysler Corporation was merged with Daimler-Benz.  The new company, was called DaimlerChrysler.

Front gate of the Mack I plant     I hired in the cam shaft department and stayed in that department during my 5 years at the Mack I Plant.  When we worked overtime we might work in blocks, cranks, pistons, connecting rods, cams, head assembly, head machining, water pumps or the assembly line.  Eventually we worked in all of the departments on overtime.
This is one of the two access gates to the Mack I Plant where I clocked in for over five years.
